This image of my friend Jake has an interesting story. I had drawn it to practice with the shape and reflection of eye glasses again in my work. After I finished, I showed a friend who thought it was rather good. A few months later, I was with that same friend at school and as we walked to class, he pointed to a person almost 20 yards away. He said, “Hey, it’s Jake!” We walked up to Jake to greet him and Jake asked my friend how he knew him because they had never met before. My friend shows Jake the portrait I had created and he was astonished at how recognizable he was to a total stranger who had only seen a drawing of him.
